Project 365.45: Breakfast Nook - Yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning (vacuuming up animal hair - despite this cold snap, they are all shedding like they are going to go bald!) and rearranging/reusing furniture. I have been looking for a hutch or cabinet to put on this wall in my kitchen for cookbook storage as well as possible china and stemware storage. The problem is that everything that I love is way out of my current price range. Instead, I changed gears. I took the bookcase that was in my office to use in the kitchen for the time being and found a new and bigger bookshelf for the office. Essentially killing two birds with one stone and saving me bunches of money since I needed more book storage in the office too. I will be going to get the new bookshelf for the office tomorrow and then this week painting the wall it will go on so I don't have to move it again once I get it situated.
You might note in the photo here that the kitty dishes are on the breakfast table. This is to keep the dog from chowing down on kitten food. Also, the big blob of paint on the wall is indicative of my loss of steam on the painting project front. Eventually the kitchen will all be that color.
#38 - Clyde in a Box:
Clyde was just chillin' in this box - a RedHook beer box to be exact. Then he hear his sister playing in the kitchen and realized it was much easier to get into the box than it was to get back out of the box. Eventually, Bonnie came to see what the commotion was and knocked the box entirely over with her brother in it. Ahhhh sibling love!
#39 - Adler: Adler is a 2 year old bald eagle that was presented at the PhotoWILD! even at the Carolina Raptor Center on Sunday. I have better photos to follow once I get them sorted through and names matched up with birds, but for now, I really liked this one as representative for the day. He is an amazing animal - why anyone would want to hurt ANY animal, let alone our national bird is beyond me. (FYI - bald eagles take up to 5 years to get their white head feathers...because they are fully grown in just six weeks, it is nature's way of separating out those that are ready to mate and those that aren't old enough yet.)
#40 - Happy Dog: Today was another gorgeous day in the South. Eighty degrees and sunny with a lovely breeze. Sadie was loving the evening sun in the backyard while I finally planted the vegetables and then sat and enjoyed the sun with her.
Finally, a photo that isn't the dog or the kittens! There were several of these yellow ladies in the yard this evening. And for anyone really wishing I had chosen another photo of Sadie, or Clyde, or a bird...you can check out my Flickr stream because there are all of the above there from this evening as well.
However, I will also share a photo I finally got of the neighbor dog so that you can see how well she matches her dog house. You know, cow spotted, Gateway looking dog houses really aren't my thing, but she is an adorable dog so I guess it makes it all okay.
#34 - Due to my inconsistent maintenance of the project I have revised my numbering to not correspond with how many days into the project I am, but simply what number photo it is. We'll see where I end up by the end of the year. It wasn't really 365 anyway for me because I got a late start this year.
Clyde has taken claim to one of the patio chairs that I had just put together. Apparently he approves of my outdoor furniture choice! The furniture has since been moved outdoors (where it belongs) and is currently covered in pollen. Ugh.
#35 - Poor Sadie is trying desperately to protect both her food dish and her bone. At one point she had the bone IN her dish, but couldn't eat around it. This photo is a repeat of one already in my blog...I posted it the day I actually took it! What a shocker!
#36 - Another repeat of a photo in my blog...this time from today. Yup, it is the beginnings of my container garden. I can't wait until these all start bearing fruit! There is nothing better than a salad with truly fresh veggies in it.
As usual, my life in general has gotten in the way of my pursuing photography the way I would like to. This should get me all up to date...
On my commute out to Wilmington...somewhere along highway 74 was the most lovely sunrise I have seen. It was incredibly foggy which just made the sun fiery.
Another Bonnie shot...she is usually good for a model when I am seeking one.
Blue Hour. The morning moon as I was out walking the pup for her morning potty break.
This time it's Clyde...watching intently as I received a fax for work. I am sure he wondered how the paper was magically moving!
They are simply getting too big to both fit in the cradle! Hahaha! Here Clyde is trying to keep his center of weight from pulling him over the edge.
Bonnie gets into and on everything. She is a climber, that's for sure, but mostly she is simply looking for trouble!
And the last one for now...the sun was going down and the kittens were watching the dog as she romped in the back yard. They very much dislike that Sadie and I can go out but they cannot. (There are too many wild animals out here, and there is a busy road not far enough away for my liking.)
Day 31: Boredom
Sadie's had enough of things...I imagine she is thinking something along the lines of, "Get away from me with that camera thing!" Unfortunately for her, the new camera came today so there will be lots of chasing her around over the next couple weeks while I learn where all the buttons are and simply get used to it.
Day 34: The Dog House
This is my neighbor's dog house. Yes, I realize it looks very similar to a Gateway computer box, but in fact, it has been painted to match its occupant. A great dane named Molly, who is white with black spots. (And yes, that is an AC unit on the end...there are even plastic flaps like you would find on an industrial cooler or freezer at the entrance to help keep the cool air in.)
Day 29 - Canon Love
I spent most of yesterday and today shopping around for a new Canon 30D. It prompted me to take a photo of some of our current Canon toys (the photo was taken with my S2 IS). The F-1 and 20D belong to Neil. For now, he is being kind enough to let me learn and play with his 20D. I LOVE it...I can't wait to get my new one!
Day 30 - Curious Bonnie
So, today I was playing around with the 20D and caught Bonnie trying to find some sort of trouble to get into. She was particularly intrigued by the neck-strap dangling from the camera and was desperately trying to figure out how she could get at it to play with. I half expected her to take a leap off the chair at me!
More paint. This time it is in my bedroom...I got half the room painted today. When I get back later in the week from my business trip I will finish it up. Of course then that means I will need to get around to staining the dresser so that I can truly call this room complete. Oh yeah, and that pesky ceiling fan needs to be installed too...
A peek at my current home improvement project - paint. Today I got the hallways painted...though, the ceilings will wait until everything else is done. They are going to take some time as there is quite a bit of detailed edging to be done which means a lot of up and down off the ladder. I was debating whether to do the ceiling now or to wait, hence the air intake being taped off.
You can also see the teal that I put in the dining room which will match the kitchen (that is through the doorway on the left side of the hall) and a patch of the gold-brown that will be my bedroom and bathroom color (straight ahead).
As far as my consistency with the Project365 stuff...life has been getting in the way of a lot of things for me lately, I am shooting when I can and will be plugging photos into their correct days. So expect some jumps like this one from day 20 to day 24. I am hoping in another week or so that things will settle out again and I can get back into a routine that will allow for some photography too.
