I got to go home for Thanksgiving this year (unexpectedly)...it was a whirlwind trip, but I am SO glad I got to go. Monday was spent traveling for the most part and working in the afternoon. Then Monday night my mom and sister came up to meet me for dinner (I stayed up north because it would have been insanely silly to try to fight rush-hour traffic both ways since I had to be back up there Tuesday morning). Then Tuesday, I actually got done with the work stuff early which was great because it meant more time with my sister and nephew.
(If you're wondering about the subject line...go look up Gary Larson's Far Side comic about what dogs hear.) :)
My refi is scheduled to close on the 21st. Yay! After hearing the horror story behind a friend's recent refi, I did make sure they did the escrows correctly. I shouldn't have to bring much (if anything) to closing. The best part is that the internal service we use sends a notary to my home with the docs to be signed!
OP seems to be settling right in. He still avoids the dogs and they are still very interested in him. Bonnie seems to be getting better about his being here...there is less hissing on her part and a lot more curiosity. He is also getting much braver. He spends most of the day hanging out in the cat tree, or on the guest bed, or on the window sill in that room...but in this morning he was brave enough to come snuggle in bed with me for a bit. And in the evenings I think he also ventures out when the other animals have calmed down for the day.
This week has been an off one for me. I switched to new pills a few months ago (the generic version of Seasonale) which has been going quite fabulously for me, except this week was my first period after being on them and it seems my body doesn't quite know what to do with itself. Massive cramps, severe headaches, intensely sore muscles and general ickyness...bah. The thing is, I am not sure that the headaches and muscle aches are even related. The weather here has been stormy and rainy which is causing more things to grow and bloom and make evil pollen. It could just be allergy sinuses adding into the mix. Who knows.
Last night the need for love and snuggles finally won out. I got to spend some time hanging out with the sweet boy. He is a lover! Petting and holding and snuggling seem to be the best things in the world (next to canned food). He got brave and explored the room...I think he even attempted to come out of the room a few times last night, but was immediately accosted by two very curious dogs.
The time off last week was much needed and wonderful! The best part was that we really didn't do much of anything. The plumber came Wednesday and fixed the exterior faucet/pipe leak - can I tell you how awesome it is to finally have a hose on that side of the house again???
I finally feel a little more under control today. Of course, now I am under the gun for getting the house cleaned up and all the random little unfinished projects I have around here done before my mom comes to visit in a week. Ha! I did get the HVAC filters changed this morning...maybe this afternoon I will drag the ladder back out and get the burned out light bulbs changed in the kitchen. (Stupid vaulted ceilings...)
Really, after that it is simply a matter of laundry and some Spring cleaning. I need to wash all the guest linens and get that room thoroughly vacuumed and dusted. The rest of the house needs the same. Luckily, I am doing a local review next week so I will have evenings to work on it all.
Oh, and next weekend I will finally get my bathroom ceiling painted and get everything hung back up in there. Right now I am going to go find myself some lunch.
Sadie and Moo might be getting a new friend! (And no, I am not getting another dog.) Heh. My neighbor said that they might be bringing home a stray tonight. A very sweet, neutered, male Dalmatian who is about a year old from what anyone can guess. He has been staying with a lady who lives next door to G's office. She was so worried that the pup would get hit by a car that she has him tied up on her back patio. The patio is outfitted with a nice dog bed, plenty of running room and such...she has two dogs of her own and can't keep this guy. She found him wandering around by the street about a week ago and took him in, put signs up, the works. Everyone agrees that he obviously belonged to someone - he is neutered, he obeys commands, and likes people. Tommy has a friend checking with the local Dalmatian rescue people to see if anyone has reported one missing and tomorrow they will take him to the local vet to see if he is micro-chipped.
I am excited...if he does end up staying (which he will unless they find his owners), Moo will have someone around her own age to play with. It will also give me an idea of what it would be like to have a third dog around. Yeah, I have already offered to doggy-sit if they have to go away over a weekend or some week when I am home. I am also happy for Tommy because he has really been missing having a dog around. His golden ret. passed about six years ago now and since then he has been really busy with working and travel up until this past year or so where now he only works a couple days a week (hairstylist) and is home.
This also gives me a tiny glimmer of hope that Clyde and Mr. M may have simply found new homes...some animal lover saw them and took them in to keep them safe. *sigh* Clyde maybe...Mr M, I just don't think so. Anyway...that is the excitement of the day. I have a conference call in about 25 minutes and then I am going to go lay on the couch and wait for my body to stop torturing me.
I have joined our company "Spring into Wellness" challenge. The goal is to hit 100 miles of walking between the first day of Spring and the first day of Summer. While I don't expect to actually reach 100 miles, I am going to use the treadmill every day that I am not on the road between now and then. Rather than miles, I am aiming for time - I figure additional miles will tack themselves on as I get into better shape.
