Well, I can honestly say that was the most anticlimactic new year's eve of any I have ever experienced.
Some years are better than others...2007 was a good year. Nothing very remarkable happened overall...there was a bad bump or two - a good friend passed away. There was a a highlight or two - Marly came into my life as did Mr. M and Bandit. Toward the end of the year I made good friends with my neighbors. Heck, one of them has even become my hairdresser!
2008 is shaping up to be not such a good year. I hope that somewhere along the way it turns out that I am wrong about that. For now, though, work is going to rule my life and not in a good way. Beginning next week, I will be required to travel every week. I will be gone two nights and three days. Almost half my life will be spent on the road - away from my family (both fur and people), my friends, my home. I will be sprucing up my resume and looking for other opportunities, however, there is a bit of a dangling carrot for putting up with the misery of being away - if I can hold out until next fall when the company offers up the certification class again I can become "official" at what I do.
What does that mean, exactly? It means that instead of being something that I was 'on-the-job' trained to do for my specific company and then trying to fluff up those skills to make some sense for another company, I will be fully fully certified which will transfer anywhere. This also means much more in compensation opportunity. I could take the course on my own, but it is several thousand dollars - something I don't have and it would require missing work which would also cost me money. If I complete it through the company then it is on company time and they pay for it.
So, my 2008 resolution is simply this...to try to survive. To survive without loosing myself, or everyone I love.
Things have been busy around the household here...but a brief, photographic update for you all is long past due.
The veggies are growing like mad and soon we will have more peppers and tomatoes than we will know what to do with!
And finally the front walkway planter box has been planted. Eventually, all of the pine straw will be replaced with red rock and all of the plater beds will be redesigned and extended.
And of course, what photo entry would be complete without the SadieDog in it? Here she is modeling her new collar. Of course, being the fashion hound that she is, we had to have the matching leash to complete the look.
My cup of coffee photo made the Vox's 'this is good' entry for 2/12/2007!
This was fabulous timing, I needed a little pick-me-up after dealing with "life" lately...thanks Vox people!
A peek at my current home improvement project - paint. Today I got the hallways painted...though, the ceilings will wait until everything else is done. They are going to take some time as there is quite a bit of detailed edging to be done which means a lot of up and down off the ladder. I was debating whether to do the ceiling now or to wait, hence the air intake being taped off.
You can also see the teal that I put in the dining room which will match the kitchen (that is through the doorway on the left side of the hall) and a patch of the gold-brown that will be my bedroom and bathroom color (straight ahead).
As far as my consistency with the Project365 stuff...life has been getting in the way of a lot of things for me lately, I am shooting when I can and will be plugging photos into their correct days. So expect some jumps like this one from day 20 to day 24. I am hoping in another week or so that things will settle out again and I can get back into a routine that will allow for some photography too.
Ahhh, the intensity and thoroughness with which kittens sleep. I wish I could concentrate on my sleep like this...maybe I would actually get some rest while I lay in my bed at night.
Clyde is one of my two, 9 month old kittens. Both came from the same litter but have completely different personalities - he is the lover, she is the fighter. Being that they are kittens and I love them dearly, expect to find more photos of them (and the dog) come up during the year.
Stacks from an era (almost) gone by...replaced by the mp3 they way they replaced the cassette tape. My house has become so digitized in the music department that I have piles of CDs sitting on my office floor here, unused and looking forlorn. They have been replaced by 180GB of digital music - a collection that is still growing at an alarming rate. The favorites from this collection will soon be relegated to my car...at least until I have the time to get it into the shop to have the iPod cable installed on the stereo. Once that happens I am not sure what will become of this once beloved collection.
(For the record, I cheated...I took this this morning when I had the right light. I missed yesterday's shot for Project365 - however, I plan to catch-up later this afternoon with another shot that is legitimately for today.)
